Our Expertise

Knowledge Behind Every Skin.

Every purchasing decision at Kooka Australia is strengthened by expertise across sourcing, classing, industry knowledge and international trade.

It is this collective knowledge—built through generations of experience across Australia, New Zealand and China—that enables us to consistently source sheepskins that meet the technical and commercial requirements of our customers.

01 Source

Every great shipment begins with relationships.

Long-term partnerships with Australia's leading processors give us access to quality sheepskins from some of the country's most respected wool growing areas.

Our sourcing decisions are guided by more than availability or price. They are informed by an understanding of wool quality, customer specifications, seasonal variation and trusted relationships built over many years.

Relationships built over decades open doors that price alone never will.

02 Class

Classing is a craft.

The judgement required to class a sheepskin cannot be automated.

Every skin presents its own characteristics. Wool style, density, handle, colour, length and yield are assessed through the trained eye of an experienced wool classer—skills developed through decades of experience, not programmed into software.

Led by Head Classer John Moss, a second-generation wool classer with more than thirty years' experience, every purchasing decision at Kooka Australia is informed by independent classing before a shipment leaves Australia.

It is this human judgement that helps deliver the quality and consistency our customers expect.

Good classing doesn't begin with technology. It begins with experience.

03 Knowledge

Understanding the end use begins long before processing.

Every customer has different requirements.

Some manufacture premium medical underlays. Others produce automotive, footwear, leather or textile products. Many process raw skins using entirely different manufacturing methods.

Understanding these requirements influences the decisions made long before a skin reaches its final destination.

Drawing on more than thirty-five years of family involvement in the wool, sheepskin and leather industry, we bring practical knowledge of processing methods, customer specifications and international market requirements to every purchasing decision.

It is this understanding that helps us source skins with our customers' intended application in mind.

04 Deliver

Precision extends beyond the purchase.

Selecting quality sheepskins is only part of the process.

International trade requires disciplined execution—from export documentation and shipping logistics to compliance, financial management and customer communication.

Every shipment is managed with the same attention to detail applied during sourcing and classing, giving our customers confidence that every order will arrive exactly as specified.

Attention to detail doesn't end when the skins leave Australia.
